Below you will find our Fundraising Appeal for our upcoming Anniversary.
Thank you so much for your support. It is greatly appreciated.

Greetings to the Family and Friends of St Andrew’s in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This year on Sunday June 14th, our Anniversary speaker will be
Rev. Dr. Karen Horst (Dip. C.E.; B.A.; M.R.E.; M.Div. & D.D.).
Rev Karen began her ministry in The Presbyterian Church in Canada as a Regional Educational Consultant resourcing congregations and developing leaders.  She then represented the PCC in church school curriculum
design and writing. Karen has written many study guides and courses. As convenor of the Presbyterian World Serviceand Development Agency for 6 years, Karen has travelled extensively, leading exposure tours and monitoring trips. As a minister of Word and Sacrament, she has served many congregations varying in size, and also worked as an interim minister. In 2015-2016, Karen served as moderator of the PCC. Knox College awarded Karen with an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity. She recently retired as minister of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Orillia. In her retirement, Karen is enjoying her grandchildren and plenty of hobbies.

Anniversary Sunday is a day to celebrate our past and the impact we have had in our community over the years, and to give God thanksgiving and praise as we look forward to the future. We hope you will mark your calendar
and join us in person, however, if you are unable to, it will also be live-streamed. As has been customary over the years, at our anniversary Sunday service, we ask for an additional donation above and beyond your normal giving to assist in paying for unbudgeted expenses that may occur during the year. These items are the ones that need to be addressed sooner rather than later. Any amount raised that goes over the cost of the repair/purchased item will be used to cover the everyday operating expenses of the church.  When making this donation, consider your generosity above your regular tithes or gifts, as a free will offering – it is an expression of our thanks to God’s continual provision and blessings. As you may or may not be aware, there is significant deterioration of the brickwork of St Andrew’s Hall which was built in 1900. The legacy of all who went before us and sacrificed from their own resources so that we enjoy it today should be remembered and honoured. The anticipated cost of repairs is around $7000.00. There is other brick repair to be done as well, but it will be postponed until funds become available.

In addition, our rich and powerful music ministry, which has been diminished due to many unforeseen events such as COVID, needs revitalization and resources. Funds raised would allow the music coordinator
to enhance the choir’s repertoire and musicianship, create a concert production once or twice a year with choir, congregation and community involvement, engage the community through open rehearsals and collaboration such as choir performances in the community, and as well introduce the organ and instrumentalists weekly/monthly to enrich services. If you believe that the St. Andrew’s ministry of music is critical to who we are as a faith community, we would need roughly a $7000 infusion.

Lastly, but not least, we have many ideas for outreach projects to invite our community to learn of Christ and join our faith community. Unfortunately, the offerings we generally receive leave little to put towards our principal reason for being a church, which is to reach out as disciples of Christ. The Alpha Program alone, to be run effectively, would require significant funds. Again, another infusion of roughly $7000 is urgently needed if we are to have the resources to reach out to our community, offering the Alpha and other outreach programs.

Therefore, we are setting our Anniversary fundraising goal at $21,000. This campaign will run from Anniversary Sunday (June 14) through to Sunday,  August 23rd. It is an aggressive goal, but St Andrew’s has never backed down from challenges in the past, and our feeling is that this one shall be no different. On your offering envelopes or e-transfers, please indicate Anniversary Sunday, and Session will discuss how best to disperse funds.

On behalf of Session, finance, property and maintenance teams, outreach and worship committees, we thank you for your generous help and support in the past, and ask again that you consider prayerfully how God has blessed you, and met your every need, and how at this time with the Holy Spirit as our helper, you can bless others both now and in the near future with the many gifts with which we have been entrusted.
